View Full Version : Summer Meet 2005
Well I have been thinking about organising another guild get together for the summer.....Last year's in Torquay was great fun and tons of us turned up...soooo...can you post any suggestions of where you would like it to take place....and if you will be coming...
So far we have done Brighton and Torquay so am open to any suggestions as people are usually willing to travel if it's a weekend bash...
Thanks :)

I sugjest California. The beach, sunshine, hot chicks, imported english beer, and touring Hollywood and Los Angeles cannot be beat.
Sadly I know this will get shot down  but the worst that can happen is everyone says NO.

What month were you thinking for this?
Am thinking the end of July....in guild chat last night people were talking about a destination between London and Manchester....some want to camp othefs bed and breakfast....
Suggestions and ideas are most welcome...Cambridge is being bandied about but nowhere is set in stone.
Oh by the way....All members are welcome old and new..... General aim is to find a pub or such like...lots of beer...lots of chat and fun!!

Imson and I should be able to make it as long as it isn't in August, getting too close to baby-to-be b-day then.
Some place like Cambridge area sounds kinda fun, always nice to see someplace different :D
Here are some links for accomodation in Cambridge...my only concerns are does anyone know the city/town?? Would we be better off going somewhere people live or know well???
What ya think?

Hiya everyone :D I've just spent a bit of time looking on the internet for different locations to hold the meeting this year.
I'm not sure where previous Blue Dragon meetings have taken place so I wouldn't know if you have been here before but I'm thinking maybe Plymouth
It seems Plymouth would be a nice place to hold the gathering as it has so much. The city was destoyed in the last war so it's buildings are pretty new. Not much history stands in the city anymore. It's right by the sea and dates back over 2000 years.
There are hotels such as:
Cranborn (http://www.smoothhound.co.uk/hotels/cranborn.html)
Harrabeer (http://www.harrabeer.freeserve.co.uk/)
and more or course....
Also, important to us all, the night life  :P  :
There are pubs everywhere so there is no point me listing of few :D
But there is also,
Megabowl (ten pin bowling)
Some nice restaurants
A Barge trip through the canals of plymouth
and other stuff that seems like fun
Some night clubs also:
Candy Store
Club Fandango
Dance Academy
Oh and for the ladies.....lots of shopping :P
also Castle Drogo is in Plymouth:
Castle Drogo (http://uk.holidaysguide.yahoo.com/t/wc/united_kingdom/plymouth/building/castledrogonationaltrust.html)
Anyway as you can see there is lots here and I would like to put Plymouth forward as an option for the BD's meeting.
Lemme know what you guys think :D
Thanks Wrider....I love Plymouth personally but then I am from down that way...the reason Cambridge was suggested is because it's kind of mid way between Manchester and London...some of the old folks don't want to travel to far lol
If people are prepared to travel then Brighton gets my vote...nice camp site and tons of B&B's... :)
Personally I don't mind traveling but you guys make the call..... :P :P :P
im liking plymouth nice and close to me only a 30 min drive. good suggestion Wrider althought Plymouth is full of Swillies .

How many people from the northern part of the country would miss the meet if it was held in the south again?
Aye from discussions it seems that Brighton may be on the list...but that means some folks travelling a greater distance...Plus only a few of us have replied to this post so not sure how many are actually wanting to come along.....
I hope it happens as it's always good for a laugh and to get to meet each other face to face for a change :)
heh all the meets r in the south lol from where i live hehe
Cambridge alot closer which i could make depending if i`m of work at the time
so i will vote for cambridge

Ok, i've weighed up the pros and cons and I've decided that Swansea would be the best place over any other location....
Cons first.....
It's in Wales, meaning there would be Welsh people! omg.
It would probably rain, because it's Wales.
It has Welsh people here.
Lots of people that live here are Welsh.
Now the pros.....
I live here.
omg omg omg!!! Yes, as you can see, the pros outweigh the cons easily.
So my vote stands as Swansea, Wales!!!
Beautiful Sunny beaches just 100m away from the town centre, friendly cheerful people wherever you go (because it's a student town, lots of people aren't from Wales), cheap pubs with cheap beer, cheap accomodation (because it's Wales and riffy), and I know the neighbourhood so wouldn't get lost this time trying to find it.
(! There are NO clocktowers and NO pride festivals taking place !)
I think i've argued my point quite convincingly...
So I'll see you all here in the Summer, yes?
Signing off,
Moomin

hehe Virego hope you got eye's in the back of your head  ...
You from Wales then papa do you talk funny then?
Wales sounds good.. think the 'cheap pubs with cheap beer, cheap accomodation' is what swayed it for me, plus always liked wales (probably cos its about the only place I have been hehe). :D

Maybe we should add a poll to this so that we can keep track of where people want? I don't know how to otherwise I'd do it.

17-04-2005, 12:48 PM
i think the problem is we dont know where everyone is going to be coming from, and the people whomight come wont say they will come until they know when and where...
...perhaps we should open a topic for postings of general where peeps live and peeps who are serious bout coming, from that we should get rough number and then we could work out a middle ground from the posts we get
just a suggestion =) it doesnt have to be done
Donii
