Well mine may be slightly different to most..except imson that is.
Wild used to play a game called everquest at the time I couldn't understand anyone playing a game that involved so much input...I was a point and click gamer and seemed to be able to finish an entire game in the space it took him to get 10 levels!
So when Wild said that the guild were getting together in not so sunny Brighton I thought to myself I need to see who the rest of these mad people are. As long as there was going to be beer around it would be fine.
So we turn up at this pub, after some interesting directions from someone called Kymm, and I see a whole group of people that seemed to be a little confused at the lack of computers around. Typing away on the tables as they tried in vain to communicate with each other. However I was pleasantly surprised at the lack of 'code warrior' and other unix related clothing lines.
Then the drinking began, it was so surreal listening to conversions about 'mobs', 'trains' and other varieties of the 'Klingon' language they had formed inorder to talk to each other. I felt like some nature expert that had been given the opportunity to witness a very strange and rare occurance!
Anyhow I managed to single of one the group out who seemed to be an expert drinking and was prepared to speak in English occasionally (I won't mention names :) ) and so the translations began.
It turned out to be a great night and some very good friendships were formed although I thought that the addiction to EQ was something that they all should probably get treatment for.
Some weeks later Wild suggested that I start a character and play. He said that it would be good fun to talk to the people that I had met...it turns out what he really meant was that he couldn't level his warrior without having a cleric on tow!! (Lesson learnt here is that you can't trust skirt wearing barbs)
So it's now been about two years since that meet and now I have a 62 cleric, understand the 'Klingon' language to the full and have even told other people that they should play the game. 8O
OMG....just realised what's happened to me now I've seen it written down...must seek help!
